An all female rock climbing production.

On the Rocks [working title] is an all female rock climbing film. The six to eight minute short film is an entirely women’s production from the ground up, depicting climbers in stunning Northern Arizona climbing areas in a creative and unique way. We are shooting on lesser known crags with six female climbers bouldering, traditional climbing, sport climbing and free soloing.  Each of these women climb at a 5.12 standard or higher. The rigging, photography, sound and production for the film will be entirely completed by women. Watch the trailer for the film here.

We are currently raising funds to support the project – please check out our Kickstarter.

Titiana Shostak-Kinker
Producer / Director

A professional adventurer and lifelong climber based in Northern Arizona since 1997, Titiana teaches adventure education at Prescott College.  Though she’s climbed and guided all over the world in places like Yosemite, Red Rocks, Thailand, Czech Republic, Switzerland, and Mexico, she returns to Arizona for the solitude and climbing variety in the secret canyons and buttes throughout the state, as well as the most beautiful, strong and graceful female climbers she’s seen.  Through this film, Titiana intends to pay homage to nature and women and to depict the spiritual connections that climbers experience in passing moments on the rock.

Jill Fineis: Lead Film and Photography
Lead Film and Photography
Jill is an outdoor educator and lifestyle and portrait photographer. She is passionate about the intersection of people and place, and documenting what arises in that space. She believes that the human experience is a deeply spiritual one, and connections between people and the landscape are ancient remnants of our former selves. Whether it is through skiing, climbing, or exploring a new landscape, she strives to capture photographs that reflect this aesthetic.

These women are BADASS!
They climb hard;
they’re local and they’re passionate.
Some are artists, others are teachers,
some are scientists, some are mothers;
all are gorgeous and strong.

More crew, riggers and helping hands to be added. It takes a village…

We’re excited about creating an all female production and very thankful to all the folks (guys too!) that are offering consulting advice and support. In our own small way, we hope to shine light on some of the dynamic women in the climbing world and to address these statistics:
“Women accounted for just 18 percent of the behind-the-scenes talent (directors, writers, producers, cinematographers, and editors) on last years 250 domestic top grossing films. While the percentage of female writers improved from 10 percent in 2010 to 14 percent a year later, the percentage of female directors (5 percent) dropped to half of what it was in 1998.” — Elle Magazine, 2012
